Multinational, NATO-accredited international military organization that supports NATO Allies and partners in addressing the security implications of climate change. Canada serves as Framework Nation, while eleven other NATO members joined as founding Sponsoring Nations. The founding Operational Memorandum of Understanding was signed in July 2023, and the Centre began initial operations in Montréal in October 2023. NATO formally accredited it on May 28, 2024, and its official opening ceremony was held on October 30, 2024. CCASCOE is not part of the NATO Command Structure and is not subordinate to NATO or another NATO entity.
